Merry Christmas from Phoenix and Sully

December Walk

Phoenix by the creek

Here are a few pictures for you to enjoy. These are from a recent walk that we took on a nearby trail. Most of them didn’t turn out very well because I had the wrong ISO setting on my camera and it was a low light situation, but I came out with a few I liked.

Dog Show Brags

I must brag on Phoenix’s brother, Dallas. I received the following note from Shelby over at Kani Dobermans:

Congratulations Shelby and way to go Dallas!

I’ve also updated Phoenix’s pedigree page with a photo of Ch. Aquarius’ Barbarosa. Check it out!

Fall In the South

Well it has finally cooled down here in the south. We are once again able to go outside and enjoy the nice weather. Here are a few pictures for your enjoyment.

Guard Dog

Here is Phoenix, practicing his guard dog role. Or maybe he is just enjoying being outside.

2007 Dog Show

Today was the 2007 Paws for a Cause dog show, sponsored by a local Rotary club. The show is a benefit for a Romanian orphanage. Phoenix participated last year and won “most macho”. The competition wasn’t very steep, and it was a sure win. This year the field was more diverse and, alas, he didn’t win. I demand a recount!

The dog that won was a cool dog though, an Old English Mastiff. He had beautiful coloring and was about twice the size of Phoenix. The judges were pageant queens, so I think they just went on size. Here is a picture of the winner along with a picture of Phoenix.

We did bring home a trophy from the event, however. Our Yorkie won the “Most Talented” category. He did the basic sit, down, speak, shake, and roll over. For some reason (I think he was too distracted with all of the other dogs) he wouldn’t do his most crowd pleasing trick, playing dead. We make a gun with our fingers and say “bang”, and he falls over and lays still. It is hilarious. Rolling over was enough to win over the judges though. Congratulations Sully!

Dog Days of Summer

Phoenix Not much going on these days. With temperatures hovering around 100, there isn’t much to do outside. We tried to go out to one of our favorite hiking trails the other day, but Phoenix had a really hard time. He does not do well with the heat, so we just chill inside with the air conditioner.

I think the pictures will speak for themselves…

Beauty and the Beast

Phoenix and Mar

My wife and Phoenix.  My wife, of course, being the beauty.

Even though Phoenix’s 1yr birthday was back in April, this is a collection of pictures from his first year.  I had a bunch of pictures to go through!

I thought this post would be a good time to try out the slide.com slideshow feature.  You might want to hit the stop button and advance through the pictures manually.  I couldn’t figure out a way to change the transition speed.
